The Department of History and Islamic Civilization Holds a Discussion Session on Media in Wars Throughout the Ages
Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Salah al-Din al-Taha, and under the banner “Media as a Tool of Awareness,” the Department of History and Islamic Civilization held a discussion session today, Monday, 9th December , 2024, titled “Media in Wars Throughout the Ages: News and Its Impact on Event Creation.” This took place in the Imam Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Shaybani Hall in the college building in Adhamiyah.
The discussions focused on the role of media in wars and its influence on shaping public opinion and historical events. The session addressed how media has been utilized in crisis and conflict management throughout the ages, highlighting historical examples that demonstrate the impact of words and news in altering the course of battles and political decisions.
A group of professors and researchers specializing in history and media participated in the session, alongside graduate students. This enriched the discussion with valuable contributions and deep scientific debates aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the role of media in shaping historical events.
The session concluded with recommendations emphasizing the importance of community awareness regarding the role of media in wars and called on researchers to study this significant aspect in more detail to document its role in building history and shaping the future.
